With redevelopment under way to improve facilities for commuters, only two and four car trains can stop at Bald- win Ave. But all trains will cease stopping at the depot from this Saturday until early February. Passengers will need to check timetables care- fully to see which ser- vices are operating. Mt Albert and Morningside stations will still offer full services. The 10-week construc- tion programme involves building a new, longer westbound platform opposite the existing eastbound platform which will also be extended. The existing west- bound platform will be removed so informal access that was available from Wesley Ave will be closed permanently. Tracks and level crossings will be re- newed and moved closer towards Caughey Place. To prepare the Auck- land rail network for electrification, the Bald- win Ave station upgrade with new shelters, elec- tronic passenger infor- mation displays and landscaping will bring it up to a similar standard to others redeveloped in recent years.
