Photo: JASON OXENHAM Alberton Fine Foods Four Square has plenty to toast. The grocery store has intro- duced a Mt Albert wine label that features images of the suburb by local artist Steven Sacatos. This first batch consists of a bordeaux blend and pinot gris conveniently called Mt Albert Red and Mt Albert White, which comes produced and bottled from the Hawkes Bay. Over time however, the intention is to source premium grapes from all over New Zea- land. The concept was the brainchild of store manager Laurent Bonamy and has full support from owner Peter Lynch. We re excited that it s on the floor and so far it s been well received, Mr Lynch says. Mr Bonamy offers wine tasting evenings in the shop on Thursdays and Saturdays between 5pm and 7pm. Hesaysheseesitasanice contributor to the community, which he has been a part of for seven years. It s about customers seeing this label and knowing it s going to be from a great vine at a great price and a portion of the profits are going back to the local community as well, he says. It s nice that we are able to have a positive spin for everyone. The Alberton Rd store will donate $1 from the sale of each bottle sold to a com- munity initiative. For its inauguration, the wine s proceeds to date are going towards helping set up Mt Albert Carols by Candle- light. The Mt Albert Baptist Church event will take place on Sunday from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at Rocket Park. Event manager Arthur War- ner says thanks to help from local businesses like Alberton Fine Foods, all profits made on the evening can be donated to Mt Albert Plunket. The picnic evening will fea- ture entertainment by Late 80s Mercedes, Chris Cope and Chris Opie, as well as perfor- mances from local schools and community groups.
