There s bound to be plenty of festive frivolity in central Auckland this holiday season thanks to the Community Spirit Christmas Lights compe- tition. Residents in Mt Albert, Sandringham, Pt Chevalier, Avondale and Mt Eden are being encouraged to decorate their homes with lights and festive decor so they don t have to drive to other parts of Auckland to view beautiful light displays. A $10 entry fee will be donated to local branches of Plunket. Prizes include Christ- mas hampers donated by Big Splendour, Motat family passes and a Royal Albert bone china vase valued at $245. The community is encouraged to tour the lights and vote for their favourite display. A gold coin donation from voters will also ensure they are entered in a lucky voter draw to win some fun Christmas prizes. Proceeds from the gold coin donations also go to Plunket. General manager of Goodwin Realty Cath- erine Goodwin says the aim is to inspire the com- munity to create some magic in their own neighbourhood. Entries close on November 30 and homes must be decorated by December 5. Online viewing and voting starts on Decem- ber 6 and winners will be announced at a function on December 21 at Ray White Mt Albert.
